Default alias is a Jedox feature that allows you to set an alias for a dimension that will always show by default when using the dimension in a view, combobox, using drill by functionality, etc.

To set the default alias, create a new view with your database and the attribute cube #_#_DIMENSION_

Put #_DIMENSION and #_#_DIMENSION_ in the rows and columns.

In #_DIMENSION choose the dimension, and in #_#_DIMENSION_ select DefaultAlias (it should be last in the list).

Paste the view and type the default alias over the PALO Data formula.

Once the default alias is set, it will work for a bunch of different things.

Comboboxes and Dynaranges (for dynaranges, ensure that 'Show Alias' is ticked in the properties):

Drill By:

Etc.

Other aliases can still be used same as usual. To only show the element name once you've set a default alias, leave 'Show alias' unchecked.

If you're creating an ad-hoc view and don't want the default alias to show, set an alias and then set the alias format to Element.
